This episode really made me realise how important my job is. There’s so much about the education system, social media and the stigma around the way we perceive each other and treat one another that needs to change. I’m not a teacher. I’m a TA. So no, I might not be teaching a student about calculus and I’ll do my best to assist with that. But what is most important in my eyes is that I will always be there for them no matter what. I will do everything to help shape them into a good person and teach them that they are worthy of so much more than a stupid number or letter on a piece of paper that they receive in Year 11. I’ll always be open to discussions about touchy subjects and help them understand the topics raised in this show etc. Shoutout to all of us working in education who actually genuinely care about our kids we work with. And a shoutout to all the kids who are struggling right now, please seek out someone you trust if you’re struggling. I promise there will always be one teacher/TA/whoever that really does care.
