Adolescence explores the phenomenon of incel, the most frightening epidemic and threat among today's youth. It's not based on a real event, but rather a cumulative collection of such events. It's triggering, intense, on edge and disturbing to watch. Particularly if you have been traumatized on an individual or collective level by such precedent events, I've been there so it was hard to finish.
Technical elements are perfect. Nowadays, the one-take has become a cool and pretentious gimmick to cover up poor stories and choices. However, this series uses it as a tool to delve deep into each of its characters throughout the four episodes. Moreover, each one-take shows the raw emotions of the character to confronted by the main character. For instance, the last scenes of ep.1, and ep.3 (dad and therapist).
Stephen Graham I didn't familiar with your game. It was the most natural, raw and vulnerable acting I've ever seen in recent years. Besides, the whole cast is brilliant. Owen Cooper is a great contribution to cinema. Extremely rare Netflix W.
