This is truly the strongest start to a show I've ever witnessed. So authentic, heartbreaking, hypnotic. Dale Cooper has some of the most powerful written lines ever. No scene in this show is wasted, everything contributes to something. Not formulaic at all. Perhaps the most captivating scene in Episode 4 was the funeral, obviously. I honestly didn't even find this scene funny like others did, although I can definitely see why people did. I just found Leland's emotion to be so agonizing. He's living a nightmare only few have experienced, and the trauma is evidently taking a massive toll on his mental stability. It's just so distressing to see someone go through that, my eyes welled up. That's what's so peculiar and unique about Twin Peaks. It has a sound juxtaposition noticeable in every episode, where a mixture of black comedy and gut-wrenching tragedy blends together so well. Each episode can follow a structure, but every installment lives in solitary. I can't stress enough how beautifully Kyle MacLachlan is portraying Agent Cooper. His mannerisms, characteristics, and distinctive affection for pie is so compelling to see every time. I'll never get tired of it, everything about his performance feels so sincere and pure. What an episode. What a show so far. I hope it keeps it up, but saying that is dense. It's Twin Peaks, of course it'll keep it up.
