I was recommended to watch this anime, since I loved Cowboy Bebop and for the first episode it's not too bad. The graphics during this era still beats any new generation anime, imo. I can already see the conflict with the father and son. The fact the father thinks so little of his son to the point he will leave him as soon as the son becomes useless. Another thing I want to mention, were the angels made from the scientists at Nerv? Or how did the underneath city come about? It interesting so far.
