By avoiding the courtroom, the show turns us into juror, offering glimpses of the suspect’s home, school, and the fallout on his family and the public. Every moment is purposeful, making this one of the best uses of show, don’t tell in years. That bedroom sequence was amazing acting. More exposition would have dulled its impact—its restraint is what makes it hit so hard.
