A well-needed change from the original game, and this episode was so beautiful. It elevates the show beyond just being a great adaptation—it stands out as an incredible piece of television in general. I wish more adaptations could pull off something this brilliant when expanding on original material, instead of completely failing when they try to write their own stories. Cough Game of Thrones cough.

I’m so glad Bill finally has a deep impact. In the game, he was a fun, lively character but mainly served as a bridge to help Joel and Ellie. Here, he’s so much more—an actual character with depth and emotion. His story with Frank was beautifully told, and their relationship felt so genuine. Bill giggling over the strawberries that Frank planted was such a wholesome moment, and I loved them as a couple so much. “I’m old, I’m satisfied, you were my purpose.” That line broke me.

The letter to Joel was another highlight, with Bill’s dry humor shining through as he bragged about his awesome electric fences. But the moment it took a sad turn—“Keep Tess safe”—was heartbreaking. If only he knew…
