this is such an important show in todays climate and people who didn’t enjoy it are missing the point. theres no exciting big twist, no shock factor, no bombshell. this is real — and its happening now. rejection retaliation is on the rise. young girls and women are being harassed and abused, if not dying.
stephen graham and jack thorne have perfectly executed the repercussions of the new generation of anti-feminist ‘red pill’ groups of men. the corruption of young boys caused by incel podcasters like andrew tate, who is mentioned, anonymous reddit groups, instagram and other forms of social media. its an eye opener for parents, young people and pretty much anyone who uses technology.
it shows that not only is instagram harmful to young girls ideation of their own bodies during such a pivotal era of development, but also shapes how young boys expect girls to look.
technically speaking, i was blown away. the continuous one-shot take, almost like a live theatrical performance, flowed brilliantly. it gave a sense of discomfort and urgency, all where necessary. the best part is, you don’t even realise it most of the time because the acting and filmography is just that good. there were no faults i picked up on.
and finally, owen cooper deserves his flowers!!! 💐🏆 👏🏻
a normal 14-year-old boy from warrington, with no previous acting experience, delievered THAT performance?! and in uninterrupted shots?!? he is absolutely going places and i’m sure we’ll be seeing his name often. any future project would be lucky to have him!
