This is a show you watch to educate yourselves and though we cannot always prepare for what is to come, we can atleast be aware of the possibilities. This is a show you watch to understand family dynamics and the differential nature of relationship a child shares within his own family. You see the side of the parents and how they explore their understanding of the situation.
Could they have done better? It wasn’t their fault was it?
They thought he was safe in his room. This show explores how safety as we perceive, can be an illusion. This is a show you watch and reflect on your own lives and the lives of the people around you and the ones you love. This is raw and real life, as real as it can get.
Every single performance on this show was raw and powerful that depicts reality as it is. There was no exaggeration or unnecessary dramatisation of the reality. It was to the point and apt in every possible sense. The camera was, oh my god. The whole one shot take premise of this show is what made it such a gripping and anxiety induced watch. It showed the stories and the perspectives of the characters from their perspective. The camera always followed someone, someone with a story to tell. It never wandered around without a story. The camera was explorative that constantly wanted to navigate the psychological landscape of the accused and the people around him. This show will be nominated for Emmys I’m sure and actors will be up for Emmys and I’m sure they’ll win some of it but I hope this show, this story just doesn’t end with the next award season. I hope it travels beyond that and makes its way into people’s lives and stare into their faces as a constant reminder and warning of the effects of social media on growing children and our society as a whole.
