probably the most thrilling episode of the show yet...so much happened and it wasn't only action. the thing i love about invincible is the ability to cover so many subplots at once without it feeling hamfisted at all. this episode was probably the best example of that, not overwhelming whatsoever but still has a grand feel to it that takes your breath away. the animation team definitely stepped it up with this episode, incredible visuals to pair with some of the more genuine and subtle voice acting i've heard from an animated show. everything felt high-stakes in this episode and they nailed it with conquest. imposing and domineering, truly welcomes you to loathe the character, but still makes you give his indomitable strength the upmost respect. his monologues are like no other, striking and ominous. eve is one of the more compelling and intriguing heroes of the show, i think her arc is the best so far. what so many shows fail to do is give female characters a purpose other than being a plot device for the male protagonist to rescue, but eve and mark complement each other so well. it really emphasizes the motif of needing each other. she doesn't feel like a sidekick or a token love interest, her dialogue and mannerisms are profound and realistic, i need to see more of her. the only thing i dislike about this episode is how convenient it feels at times. i'd like to see mark's growing strength in a more comprehensive way, too, make me feel it!
i will say his final line of the episode is the most sinister i've heard from him in the entirety of the show. anyways it gets 5 stars because it's awesomely intense and fucking awesome and (of course) it's monumental in regards to the overarching plot.
