Well executed and masterfully written, this is how you can briefly describe "generation kill", the screenwriter here is David Simon, known for the great series "The Wire". I continue to be convinced that HBO is already a guarantor of the quality of the series. The story of the war in Iraq from the perspective of ordinary soldiers who have to go through many difficulties, because everyone here is pursuing different goals, someone is moving up in rank, many came here with one single goal - to kill (and it does not matter who), and someone just wants to serve as quickly as possible and return home from this faded, already boring desert. The series also emphasizes moments when the decisions of the commanders-in-chief very closely border on the absurd (to blow up or shoot a village with ordinary civilians, even at a time of no threat), and without the ability to challenge these decisions, and most of these decisions are used, oddly enough, to receive medals and other praise. As in "Jarhead", here more attention is paid to the relationships between the Marines and in general to what happens inside the platoon/brigade and there is not much action here, but this is not the main thing in such a wonderful series.
