Such a shockingly great show. The show is a weirdly incredibly wholesome sitcom with ted thrown in adding a dark edge to the mix. The family dynamic is great and not only is perfect for the comedy but also manages to show incredibly different political ideologies in a very very interesting way. You have a Gen Z adopted daughter who is a little ahead of her time but really adds a lot to some of the conflicts and heart of the show. The incredibly wholesome but also at times offensively naive mother. The dad who’s on the far right spectrum and is constantly at odds with his daughter. And ted making his snarky wise cracks and the occasional offensive joke. Johns is a fine character, but his a little bland (which is fine). All the different personalities really create such a realistic feeling dynamic and genuinely there’s some incredibly well written stories in this show. The humour is also pretty great I think the first movie is slightly funnier but this show is still hilarious and an incredibly fun time. I guess my biggest issue would be the length? None of the episodes felt like they necessarily dragged but considering this is a sitcom 30-50 minute episodes do feel like a very weird choice. This is more of a nitpick though, none of the episodes are boring. I also don’t like how inconsistent the episode lengths are but again this is being nitpicky.
