i’ve seen a lot of negative reactions to this episode and that’s absolutely insane to me. the cold and disconnected world reeled me in and there’s so much to be learned from the setting alone. this episode changes so much about the entire idea of severance as well as cobel’s character. it vividly paints lumon’s crimes and the history of a person responsible for the realization of something as dark and utterly twisted, as severance. it’s fine if you don’t have the patience for this kind of pacing (it’s the shortest episode in the entire show), but that’s a weak argument. the slowed timing is purposeful, the pacing is frustrating, the dialogue is insane; it’s supposed to be maddening. it’s part of it, because that’s exactly how cobel feels.
