Marvel Studios' revival of Marvel Television's "Daredevil" is subtitled "Born Again", but there's no "again" to the first episode to follow thirty-nine predecessors. In a high-stakes gamble, the series' opening statement is that any expectation of "Born Again" founded on the practices of "Daredevil" is inadmissible in its court. The pilot has given my esteem for Marvel Studios' willingness to strike a path out of the shadow of a giant narrow lead over my apprehension towards fixing what wasn't broken, but too much of the runtime is spent sorting between what elements of "Daredevil"'s foundation are and aren't being built upon for the episode to feel fully self-motivated.
