I’ve never really had a ‘favorite’ anything. It’s always been a struggle of mine to pick a #1 favorite movie, song, show, or anything. But this. I can confidently say that this is my favorite show. If this were a movie, it would be my favorite movie. This show is one of my favorite things of all time. Not every episode is perfect. It has its flaws. But it’s not about how well each episode is. It’s not about the quality of writing or cinematography or the lighting or the acting. It’s how it made me feel. Yes, the acting and writing and music and cinematography was fantastic most of the time, but what really got me was the emotional aspect. This show made me smile, laugh, cry. I have deep attachments to some characters and great disliking toward others. I found myself rooting on the downfall of some and sincerely hoping for the success of others. Love, betrayal, passion, loss - that is what Game of Thrones is. The battles and the fighting scenes were always so epic and fun to watch. I’ve never been a huge fan of fighting and gory deaths and violence but it was so well done here. And personally, I absolutely love the medieval era. Royalty, knights, dragons - this whole aesthetic is so appealing to me and it’s another reason why I love this show so much. Another note: the casting team did a phenomenal job for the most part. A lot of actors matched the characters’ book descriptions, and the acting overall was very very good. And don’t get me started on how basically everyone in this show is extremely attractive. I’m straight but I was seriously questioning my sexuality. I know there are other shows out there that are said to be better than Game of Thrones. I will watch them, but I can confidently say no other show will replace this as my favorite show. Thanks George R. R. Martin. Thanks Benioff and Weiss. Valar morghulis.
