Season 3 episode 1-4 review: The writing on ‘Yellowjackets’ has somehow fallen into the depths of the Mariana Trench. This show had one of the greatest first seasons ever. How did they fumble this hard? Was Juliette Lewis leaving the breaking point? They had an incredible cast, a brilliant set up, a perfect momentum of tension and genuine horror creepiness. Then season 2 came and it wasn’t as good, but still kind of promising. So far season 3 hasn’t utilized a single plot point or actor. The mystery has gone and it feels like the writers have no idea where they’re going. I’m so disappointed. BRING HORROR BACK ON YJ. Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Courtney Eaton are some of the most talented upcoming actresses. They are given ZERO to work with. It’s as if they lost the essence of what the show is supposed to be. Not to mention the adult cast. Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci are a gold mine. Now getting rid of Simone Kessell’s adult Lottie for seemingly no good reason (just like with Nat (Juliette Lewis)) lowers the stakes immensely.
