This series is such an incredibly mixed bag. It has the highest of highs that even the most exhausted, cynical Dragon Ball fan can appreciate (me). The fights and animation are both consistently incredible. But this is probably the most poorly written DB series so far. Lots of pointless retcons that just open up plot holes and make further shows/manga seem stupid for not acknowledging. There’s also a lot of loose ends that make zero sense. Vegeta goes SS3. Goku goes SS4. Why did neither of them ever mention it? Why did they never use these powerful forms again? Why did they introduce the fusion bugs only to never use them? Why retcon the Nameks again? The third eye that makes you king is just wolf at a store? Almost none of the comedy landed for me either. They keep up the joke of Goku getting Glorio’s name wrong for the entire 20 episodes. A good looking show with not much going on. A good chunk of it feels like filler.
