Spoilers AHEAD!
This show had me that glued to my monitor I ended up binge watching this IN ONE DAY! Since it came out yesterday... Like from characters to story to plot to pacing it just all felt solid and it felt well executed in a good way as well!
This ain't beating "American Primeval" for the number 1 spot for 2025 TV Show releases. But this sure is going in 2nd spot because this show was not only fun but it had likeable characters, good character depth & development, engaging writing and the plot was just very enjoyable with each episode that went by! I hope we get a season 2 with that ending we got at the end of episode 10! Because I am so curious on seeing where the story goes with "Cam Gordon" being back at his desk at the end of episode 10. Since he had to step down and gave the head of the Waves Company to Isla (his sister)
"Running Point" is not only a very enjoyable show start from finish, but it has characters that are engaging with great character development and depth with each of the main characters and side characters, especially Isla Gordon who we see a massive development from as the show went on. The writing was more about the family aspect rather then basketball (which I really loved!) and the plot of seeing how Isla would run the company without knowing how to was very fun to not only see but it was just so satisfying seeing her become this badass business woman! I feel like each episode was executed well with it's solid pacing that didn't make me bored with some humor and comedy slapped in the show between the brothers! And the writing felt so laid back that you could just chill out, watch and not think too much! Even the casting was awesome as well! Hope this gets renewed for season 2 because I'm curious on where Netflix will take the story with Cam being back!
I really loved the story from start to finish in this show. With at the start "Cam Gordon" stepping down and going into rehab due to his drug addiction and problem hence giving the Waves Company to Isla Gordon. Most of the people had doubt in her and I liked how the script made her develop in a way that we saw the things that she went through to become the badass business woman that she was towards the end of the show. Having the semi drama between the 2 brothers was entertaining and at the start of the show also revealed that Jackie is a Gordon and he ended up becoming Isla's so called assistant along with Ali who was already on. With that ending we got at the end of episode 10; Cam Gordon being back at his chair and desk at the company with having Isla surprised makes me so interested in seeing where Netflix decides to take this storyline in season 2! WHICH I HOPE THEY RENEW THIS SHOW!
Not only was the story and plot very entertaining throughout, but the characters were well executed in their character depth and development as the episodes went on. The 2 brothers (not Cam) kind of got a little annoying during but their drama ended up being entertaining. Isla went from this woman of not knowing how to run the Waves company to becoming this badass business woman. Ali was a cool assistant, same goes for Jackie, but this man really turned into a f boy towards the end smashing all of theses random girls when he had a chance with a badass latina mami! WHAT A GOOF! I really loved Isla and Ali's chemistry throughout though, I feel like they were the best part along? Really loved theses 2 and feel like they were my faves during this. Oh, and I thought Travis was a dumbass at the start but as the show went on I thought he was alright.
I thought all of the cast did a very solid job! Since the characters each of the cast played had me glued to my screen and not feeling bored at all during this show. Kate Hudson did a great job as Isla and I feel she brought that vibe and energy towards this show alongside Brenda Song (Who played Ali). The other cast members were great as well but I just feel theses 2 brought that energy towards the show that made it feel so engaging from start to finish!
Overall "Running Point" is a very solid and enjoy show from Netflix! With it's story being more about family development then basketball and I just really liked the characters during this show; which I add I ended up adoring a few! I really hope we get a season 2 because with the ending we got, WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
