As someone who has enjoyed several Mindy Kaling projects, this was one of my most anticipated shows of the year. She has a talent for writing memorable, quirky, and self aware characters that you can’t help but root for, and this show was no exception. The family dynamics were eccentric and fun to watch unfold. However, I found them a bit predictable. The aspect I liked least about the show was the setting. While I didn’t mind the basketball shenanigans, the conflicts felt too oversimplified and convenient, which took away from the narrative satisfaction and emotional investment on the story. This show has room to grow so I hope next season, w the older brother involved, my issues can be fixed.
