I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY. Especially about the Second leads but I’ll keep that for the very end of the review because this would just turn into a whole review about them.
First off I thought based off the title “Melo Movie” that we were gonna get some chill romance good vibes kdrama. I was completely wrong lmfao.
The acting in this was phenomenal and I continue to love shows that Park Boyoung is apart of. From doom at your service, light shop, to this. And I know daily dose of sunshine is a huge hit as well as strong girl bong soon, she does an amazing job at picking great shows to be apart of.
They did a great job in portraying real life relationships with friends, parents, and lovers. They did a great job with showing how miscommunication is a HUGE part in how relationships breakdown that can lead to anger, hate, and confusion.
The first lead couple was a good story and it had its up and downs at times but they did a great job in smoothing things out. The death of his brother was sad as hell, and once again they did a phenomenal job in showing how you can have a bond with someone but not fully “know them” and what their life is like.
I could write more about this show but I need to save some words and space for the second leads. They absolutely stole the show for me and I could blab on and on about what I think because I have so many thoughts about their whole relationship.
Sijun and Ju-a’s relationship was probably the most realistic portrayal to a young couple that I’ve seen in a show. They had gotten content, complacent, and obsessed in a way that it led to a loss of love. At some point they just liked the idea of being with each other.
Also having someone re enter your life after leaving abruptly that you were in a 7 year relationship with and basically grew up together is hard forget and left Sijun with too much baggage and being stuck in the past that just wouldn’t let him and Ju-a to continue.
I could really unpack the whole relationship because they did an AMAZING job of portraying real relationships but this review is already way too long.
With all that being said this was such an amazing show and it did such a great job at showing how all these relationships with others can be so different for everyone and how people all handle grief, loss of close ones, love, and relationships differently.
