Not sure why there was more than one podcast sketch. It also felt like the writers were on strike again on this week’s show (like they’re saving all the good stuff for the 50th anniversary special?). Like WHY have Timothée Chalamet host and then give him the worst sketch ideas? “Oedipal Arrangement” was decent, but it was sad they had to explain what “Oedipal” meant in case the younger generation didn’t pay attention in school, otherwise no notes on that one.
Timothée sang THREE Bob Dylan songs: “Outlaw Blues” (which didn’t feel too obscure to me) and “Three Angels” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time”. NGL, I am a huge Bob Dylan fan and of course I’ve seen A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, but I had never heard of the last two songs. Listen, let Timothée do whatever the heck he wants for one song and then have him sing at least one song from A COMPLETE UNKNOWN or at least one standard Bob Dylan tune. My picks would have been sing “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” and “Like a Rolling Stone” — not necessarily my favorite Dylan tunes, but that selection would have made a whole lot more sense to me.
