𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬. Legend of The Galactic Heroes is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever seen, and that you’ll ever seen. A story of betrayal, love, family, camaraderie, rivalry and also, dreams. It’s one of the most ambitious work and it’s always hard with these kind of works, to get to the heart of its message but it really benefits from the time it took, I would even say that it was necessary. Personally even though that yes there’s some "pacing" problems at times and it’s sometimes indigest, especially in regard of battles in the first anime’s half, this is a work that comes really close to the word perfect to me, with all of these episodes and it still always feel mastered. I got the impression that it really reached is whole potential and there was nothing left to say, and above all there isn’t any insatisfaction because nothing is left behind or feel unfinished, to me. It’s one of the work after finishing it that I presume will stay in my head and keep growing and growing in my heart purely because of how rich it is in its subjects and does not only rely on its emotional aspects, even though it is really emotional, perhaps one of the works that made the biggest impression on me in this respect. It’s a work, I think, that leaves its mark on you and will over time mark me even more (I hope). It will impact me because even with leaving the characters aside and all that stuff, everything this work deals with thematically whether socially, politically but also philosophically, is truly impactful, it’s an anime where we could easily write essay and compares it to existing phenomena. The criticism of war, and every political systems without any manicheism. It’s an anime that made me really think a lot while watching, probably a lot thanks to the dialogues that are some of the best piece of dialogue you’ll ever see. Every character with there dialogues have all their own philosophy, they’re are all magnificently written and I mean that. You can tell that they're alive, and have thoughts of their own, and personally it’s something that I appreciate particularly, especially in an animated work. Through the dialogues of an ordinary side character, who’s going to become as time goes by more and more important. I sincerely think that we have here one of the best cast, EVERY characters are interesting and unique, it’s so good. With all its ambitions and of course it’s demesurate scale of what it tackles, it’s also a work very intimate who talks about much less sophisticated subjects too, but of a depth and particularly a beauty just as great. Lotgh have a very documentary look at times, when I say this I speak mostly about the narrator who’s most likely somebody from the future, we don’t really know even if I have some theories which are a bit useless and not interesting but it’s always fun. I write about that because it’s something that really got me questioning myself. The importance the narrator gets through the seasons is interesting because I remembered how in S1 I didn’t really like the way there were a narrator out of nowhere at every episodes but knowing that he’s "part of a story" since he tell it by being directly linked to the universe, is much more great. So as the seasons and episodes go by, I didn’t have any more problem with it. When I think back on the whole work while writing this review, I see what an intelligent piece of work it is, I don't know anything about the people who made it or even their work before or after LOTGH but I feel that there was a lot of documentation work before having made it, it's so well written that you're just watching dialogues for 25 min without stopping during several episodes and you're just captivated by the fact that it's so interesting. LOTGH as an art style that matches really well with the overall tone and the ambitions of the work. The animations which is not always perfect but is constantly improving seasons after seasons and I find that it has a charm that I really liked and which totally suited me, as the visuals. Frankly from a technic aspect whether all the things that I mentioned or the voice acting, I found it excellent. To sum up and not stretch any further, this is sincerely one of the work that impacted me a lot, thanks to all the things that I’ve already said and also simply because of its characters, all as endearing as the others, on both sides in fact they’ve all have their flaws and their qualities. For me there’s everything, epic battle that you’ll enjoyed even when at times they feel heavy, epic and badass characters while being very nuanced and truly attaching. It is truly worth the watch and I hope if you have read all of this yap you’ll be convinced to start LOTGH because at the end, everyone will have is own love & attachment with it, even if it’s less or maybe even more than me or some others, for sure it will not leave you indifferent. (These lists are not 100% accurate it’s my thought now and it’s more of a feeling, in fact it’s not really the kind of things I like to do but for an overall anime/show review, it’s always cool and fun to interact with.)
