Marketing this as a sitcom is so amiss. The Comeback is much more than that; it takes us into an introspective journey of women navigating not only the ruthlessness of the entertainment industry but the ruthlessness of being a woman before society. There are MANY hard pills to swallow throughout the seasons but they are as real as it gets while keeping it full of humors. The first season may trap you with its cringe comedy at first but then it flows into a revelatory display of humor that you would find simultaneously hilarious and ironic. The fact that HBO canceled this show after its first season just proves the point even more, but thank God they revived this for another season although only with limited eps. The second season got more mature and I think more emotional as Valerie introspect her relationship and dynamic with people surrounding her even more. I think this show and Lisa Kudrow deserve their Emmys.
