the year was 2022, bryan cranston and aaron paul’s breaking bad checks began to run thin and they had BILLS to pay. 

lives were CHANGED with that cold open. i was already perfectly content with that little snippet but when it continued on later in the episode?? actually so awesome. yeah it’s fanservice (although it does provide some context, come on we all know why it was added) but im a FAN and loved it. the lore in general was awesome, when francesa just mentioned skyler and pinkman on the phone i teared up a little bit. i haven’t seen “El Camino” yet so this is the first time i’ve seen any sequel content for the Breaking Bad series.

kim nation rise up!! her mention was so cool and it was bittersweet to see how much gene perked up. it’s also cool to think that the story did likely make national news and kim one day saw her ex-husbands name plastered in the newspaper. that was the worst “[inaudible dialogue]” moment. although looking at the reviews i definitely agree that the most likely theory is that he was just trying to argue with whoever picked up for kim’s contact information. waterworks HATES to see me coming i cannot wait.

gene using viktor for his name in the schemes 🥹 would he still have done that if he hadn’t been thinking of kim earlier? the world may never know! goddamn chuck was right, he will never change. bro has however obscene amount of money (i know most of it was stolen) and is just doing this for some sort of emotion. the transition from the grave to him lying in bed was so tough. the montage of gene’s life being filled with him drugging water bottles and hooking up with strippers is so depressing, even more so than the saul goodman montage at the end of Fun and Games.

he definitely wants to get caught at this point because we know he’s not stupid, so why on god’s earth would he push so hard to scam this man with cancer and break open his window to do so. 

i am not ready for this next two episodes holy shit. i might have to wait a week before starting them so i can watch them at the perfect timing when i’m alone and comfortable, but idk if i can wait that long
