Poster for Band of Brothers
Band of Brothers doesn't sell excessive fighting scenes. Not like what is presented in colossal film scenes, where it seems as if human lives are being "wasted" without meaning. In Band of Brothers, every life is valued. There will be an extraordinary sense of loss when one of the company members dies in the line of duty. Because since the first episode, it has depicted a close family atmosphere. Since training at the military academy. They were ordinary people before the war broke out. Maybe a shopkeeper, clerk, or newspaper seller. However, when they devoted themselves to military service, they were the same people. Both have a noble mission to bring peace after war. The bond is maintained tightly. As far as I know, every year there is a reunion of Easy Company members. Maybe every year they also remember the many valuable lessons they went through together. Until the last person from Company E died. Band of Brothers is not just a drama about war. This miniseries is so rich in emotion. They shared foxholes, shared ammunition, shared warmth when winter came. They celebrate holidays not amidst glitter, with lots of laughter. But in the Bastone forest, they "celebrate" the holiday in silence. Very freezing cold atmosphere. Even when they tried to start a fire, they would immediately be hit with gunfire, or even artillery. There are stories about company commanders and leaders who underwent several changes. Starting from Captain Sobel who was labeled as annoying, but was very disciplined and seemed to know no mercy. There was also captain Richard Winters who seemed to consider Easy Company to be his own family. Richard Winters was tied to Easy more than anything else. Even after being promoted. A true leader who is loved by his subordinates. His career rose, he was appointed battalion commander, until he was reappointed as a Major. And that means, like it or not, he has to leave Easy Company. Easy Company also experienced a leadership crisis. When in the hands of the "wrong" person like Norman Dike. The story is so complex. It also describes the detailed atmosphere of the jump. A paratroopers plane being bombarded by non-stop anti-aircraft cannons. Until some people even had to fall before they could deploy their parachutes. There are people who have to die before all the theory and hard work of training while at the military academy can be put into practice. And there are people who are so lucky, they get shot several times, and several times they survive death. Until we can see the war end. Or there are story details, such as how a soldier died because of a Luger pistol he had just confiscated. Owning a Luger pistol is a matter of pride. But it is an irony when you have to die because of an accidental shot, from a proud gun, at an unexpected moment. The bloody scenes are truly depicted as they are. Momentum before death. People who lost their legs due to mine fragments or artillery fire. Everything looks realistic, as if the audience feels the pain, pain and horror. How lucky, people who don't have to witness war with their own eyes. Fear is a natural thing for soldiers to have. During the war it became so chaotic, and bodies were lying here and there. One soldier even unconsciously dug a foxhole with his fingers in the Bastogne forest. The soldier was sent home, because he did not want his fear to spread to other company members. Killing human lives to create peace is something that cannot be avoided in war. Things that seem cruel like that are a condition for the creation of prosperity. One of the things people enjoy today is the payment of high prices. The blood of the nation's warriors and heroes. But even though taking lives is inevitable, the events in the area near the Dutch city of Randwijk deeply disturbed Richard Winters. A teenage German soldier. The kid probably doesn't know anything. Just a "victim" of the war command line. He was put there, and he had to make sacrifices. I don't know what his family is like. Or the future he should have. That was the last time Richard Winters fired his gun. That incident haunted his memory. There may be feelings of guilt. When he saw the teenager on the train, he remembered that day. And many things reminded him of the events of that day. Band of Brothers is a timeless work. It displays amazing details of events, so that those who watch it feel as if they took part and were in Europe during the Second World War. War has brought them together. Each event further strengthens brotherhood and bonds. Not just fighting for the country, but how to maintain the integrity of the company members until they arrive in the German homeland. It's all truly wonderful, valuable stuff. Carrying to the furthest limit that a person can achieve with his experience. Band of Brothers is not a big story that changed history drastically. Just the story of a few people. Some of the world's heroes are members of a company. However, there are many lessons about family, togetherness and enthusiasm that can be passed on to children and grandchildren. It is a matter of pride and beautiful memories to be able to dedicate one's body and soul to the country. Donate your energy to create peace. Because simplicity is an amazing thing. The most valuable thing in a story is an idea. Not wasting a billion dollar budget just to build expensive scenes. Crash expensive cars, blow up buildings, or even sink an island. How a good idea can be impressive and change the audience's outlook on life. Not only do you have the desire to create spectacular works, but you end up just forgetting them. Many films simply waste the viewer's time, which is much more valuable. To ponder and nod, then simply forget what they had just witnessed.
