8.5/10 JAMES GUNN COOKS AGAIN!!!! Ok I'm not gonna lie, narratively, this is the weakest comic book story he's made so far, and it's very much held down by the episode count. We don't get to see Rick Flag again much after the Clayface episode, despite him being one of the main characters, and we also really have no idea what Illana's motivations are for teaming up with Gorilla Grodd and such. But overall, this still did not falter in the characterization aspect, with each of the commandos offering backstories that are more tragic than the other, and I was thoroughly engaged throughout all 7 episodes, even got choked up in some of the backstories. The plot may have holes but James Gunn does what he does best, which is making us feel for characters we know nothing about. I'm excited for his DCU.
