Poster for When the Phone Rings
Wattpad story in Korean style. The drama started very promisingly. The acting was brilliant, and the chemistry between the leads was wonderful. A husband who outwardly showed no emotions and behaved coldly towards his wife, thinking that this way he gave her the freedom she had longed for since childhood, but internally he loved her. A wife who didn't know how to express her true feelings because her mother had always told her she had no right to. Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hee-ju felt like caged birds because of their families' greed and ambition. The most interesting part for me was Baek Sa-eon's phone conversations with 406. These conversations helped the communication between the leads and allowed them to reach each other. I wished they had kept this until the end. The problem was in the last episode, or at least half of it, which was unnecessary. I can't help but mention Ji Sang-woo and Na Yu-ri. Although at first, I didn't see a future for them due to my wrong impressions of Sang-woo, I'm glad everything worked out. They were very sweet, and the chemistry between them was also not lacking. They were a good team together, and I'm glad they got together. Unfortunately, no matter how much I avoided them, I saw spoilers, and therefore the plot twists didn't surprise me. Thank God they didn't completely ruin my interest, they just didn't excite me as much as they would have if I didn't know who was behind everything. Final rating: The first half was great (5+), then it started a repetitive game of kidnapping, hospital, attack, hospital, which I didn't see the point of so many repetitions of the same thing... (4-) and finally, I liked the ending, but there were unnecessary moments that could have been cut and wouldn't even be missed, (so ~3) and overall rating = 4.5⭐
