Somehow, this is the first time I've noticed that Harlan Ellison has a cameo in this episode! JMS recently revealed that this would have originally been the season 4 finale had season 5 been guaranteed (the network it was on pretty much told him to wrap it up). I have to wonder how this arc would have been extended and more fleshed out had this been the 22nd episode of the season instead of the 17th, and how that would have changed the makeup of S5. We can only speculate, but it definitely works as a great cliffhanger before setting up the final staging grounds of the revolution against Pres. Clark.
