8.2/10
This season felt like they split a season into 2 halves and we're seeing the first. The gametime is significantly reduced to allow for more story, which I welcome by all means, but there also isn't much lore being dropped here. A lot of the things felt like they were waiting to reveal them in season 3. There's a lot of set up and hinting, and overall, it very much felt like a stretched out first-half. However, I loved episode 1 for Gong Yoo, and I loved the tension and character building the show seems to excel at, which are still consistent from the first season. I also love the additional games to surprise the characters and the audience, and the overarching theme of human greed; how far humans are willing to go for money, even disregarding other people's lives, just seeing them as numbers. The new characters range from well written to campy fun. I still enjoyed this season a lot, it's better than a lot of shows I watched this year, but not going up into the greats unfortunately, due to the dissatisfaction of the cliffhanger. But I'm looking forward to S3.
