I like the idea that they have dared to explore the Dune universe in a more extended format than the movies. The series give the opportunity to navigate in depth the stories, the reasons, the consequences, the personalities, the locations. And that is what is done in Dune: Prophecy. Maybe not as effectively, but the purpose is served. Visually it's an ambitious series, and it couldn't be otherwise, considering the general aesthetic of Denis Villeneuve's two existing films about this vast universe. The performances are good, the music delivers, the editing is a little lethargic, there are good visual effects, there is a script that is closed in its story and open in its ending that cries out for a continuation in another season. It's not part of the best of its year, but it's entertaining if you've ever liked Dune lore and science fiction in general. 7.50/10
