Fellas, I think it’s safe to say that we are SO BACK So exciting to watch, not only because it’s a huge improvement on so much that preceded it, but also because it’s exactly the type of thing I want from this show. This is so completely haunting, with both the danger of Windom Earle and the eerie nature of the supernatural/unknown coming in at full force. For all the ways in which this sets up things to come, the episode still makes a mark in its atmosphere and tone, each as strong as they have ever been. I have rarely been so unsettled. But the brilliance comes not just from the darkness, but the dreaminess as well. There’s a plethora of romantic subplots here and though they are all involving on their own, there’s also the added bonus of things seeming darker than they are. To me, this type of blend is exactly what defines Twin Peaks, and when adding in returning surreal concepts, I cannot call this anything else but one of the show’s finest thus far.
