7.5/10
We all know why this show became popular. It's the art, the music, the comedy and the eccentrics. But to me they all didn't stand out much. What stood out about this show to me was the amount of tokusatsu references it had; from the main character being able to henshin into a masked hero, to the monsters and aliens being derivatives from Ultraman kaiju and one of them straight up copying Shin Godzilla. This show is quite fun. The comedy is funny enough, the animation is spectacular enough, and the characters are written well enough. But apart from episode 7, none of the other episodes evoked strong emotions in me, nor did the storytelling impress me. It's a very fun show to watch, and I wish it ran for about 20+ episodes to fully develop these characters, rather than this season ending in the middle of an arc. I would say there's a decent level of development in terms of shonen romance, which is not seen in shonen shows, but it still pales in comparison to romantic development in romantic shows of course. Overall, a very fun show to watch, after a long day of work or school, and you just want to cool off. Episode 7 will potentially make you cry.
