Fifth rewatch.
One of my favorites of all time. It's hilarious and actually has interesting takes on the entire idea of superheroes, regarding both the social impact of them and the meaning of being a hero. Its got vibes similar to 'The Boys' in the way the heroes are portrayed as celebrities and are actually incredibly selfish, yet it is much more optimistic and shows true noble characters that do care about helping humanity.
Saitama's entire character breaks the rules with his strength and provides for a surprising character-analysis and internal conflict without the need to worry about external conflict. The rest of the heroes and innocents are the only way you can actually care about external conflict and that makes them all shine. Although there was a risk in Saitama being mainly comedic relief, his actions and day-to-day thougths make for a compeling protagonist with whom you could relate to with his mundanity. The most powerful man in the world is an idiot and it's the best thing ever.
Genos, Sonic, RIDER, Fang, the list of iconic characters goes on and on. They all play this meta-role of being cliche characters that are borderline parodies while also working perfectly within the story as themselves, this writing makes the show a comedy and gets you to care at the same time. I honestly think some of most original ideas about the hero mythology are embedded within these dramatic parodies.
The music and animation (mainly the cinematography) are absolutley peak. A show as focused on comedy as this one is elevated by the visuals and sounds used to get a laugh out of you. Believe me when I tell you some frames and moments are mentioned and quoted in my every day life, at least with my brothers. This also applies to the dramatic moments, which the show pulls off incredibly as the music and images of moments like Mumen Rider's stand against the Deep Sea King or Lord Boros' final monologue are packed with such emotion and honesty, I can't believe how much they get to me every time I watch this season.
I must add, the Spanish dub is one of the reasons I love it so much. It is my biased opinion that Mexico has the best dubs in general and this show is proof of it. Of course I don't mean to bring down the amazing work of tons of voice actors around the world, but the realism and absurdity the dub for this season has is unmatched by any of the others I tried. That's that.
The few issues I have with the season are overshadowed by the pure comfort and fun that I get from watching. Still, I don't think it's perfect. Maybe it is in its own way, but not objectively. 4.5 is real.
