“Come on baby! Onto the ship baby! Come on! Don’t make me count!” Another banger. I love the emphasis on Neel this week, and his comparative optimism. He reminds me a lot of Omega (more on that in my formal review) which I love the contrast to. The way he communicates with Hayna is really endearing, to say the least. He has that charm about him. As for Fern, who also got a big moment this week, it was interesting to see her crack a little bit. The kids are in a lot of danger, and under a lot of pressure, and it’s good to see the adrenaline crashing and catching up with them, acknowledging that this is a lot for them at such a young age and with so little experience. She’s sweet, when she’s not bossing people around. And ultimately, it’s cool to see that side of her also fuel her finding a solution. Then there’s Jod, who also shows that softie side of him a bit. Hugging the kids is adorable. He’s Moving towards really bonding with them, slowly but surely. He really did do it for them, even if that rescue endeavor got off on the wrong foot. This is also the Daniels’ episode, and you can tell 1000%. Their unique style of directing and preferred shooting techniques are quite present. Not too stand-out-ish to look weird in comparison to the other episodes, but enough to differentiate the episode as being their work.
