I don’t think i will ever experience something like this again (except maybe Gintama). It took me four months to finish this show (school ongoing) but i was never bored of watching it, it’s the show that i’ve always dreamed of, survivors on an mysterious deserted island trying to survive because help won’t come and they know it. But it could have been missed in so many ways, thanks to the creators for having make a show this perfect with no flaws or lacks of consitency (imo). The pacing that this show have taken was insane too, this way of keeping you in suspense throughout the episodes, without ever missing. The insane fact is that on a show that lasted 121 episodes and which spans 6 years of filming, there’s maximum 3-4 “bad eps” and they’re not even this bad just not on the overall series level. I will talk about the unique way to tell story, which consist in focuses each episode on a different character by showing flashbacks or flashforwards always related to the island storyline and which match perfectly with the themes covered and the message of the ep. This show has to be watched in one go, i understand that ppl can be confused because of the complexity of the plot that goes in all directions. This is definitely not for everyone but once the show got you, you can’t stop it until you have finished it. I guess this one impacted me way more than others, of course enjoyability is subjective and you just can’t tell that a show is perfect because it depends on everyone points of view so i will say that this is MY perfect show and probably my #1 forever ❤️‍🩹. I’ll approach every aspect of the show separately now The order won’t matter Obviously there can be spoiler out of now INTRODUCTION 10/10 #1 in tv (i will always say that but it’s obviously only from the shows i’ve seen, and there’s no plenty) From the first second of the show i got excited, this innovative way to introduce a show, without even explaining the context or who are all of these ppl and what’s going on can intrigue you to the highest degree. You’re taken from the first second in an intense and stressful atmosphere marked by the dull sound of the destroyed plane. The unknown people screaming and panicking from the very first scenes will involve you directly in the show without even let you time for breath. You can fully understand the intro once you’ve finished the show. The parallels between the first and the last episode are the best i’ve ever seen, it was perfectly done. The way in which the show managed to develop relationships between the strangers characters that doesn’t know each other at the beginning will never be top in my opinion. Every single Dynamic is Amazing. SEASONS SEASONS RANKING : S4>S3>=S5>S1>=S6>S2 S1-S4 is the best and most consistent prime in tv i’ve seen by the way and i only see Game of Thrones 1-4 top it but it’ll be hard. SEASON 1 10/10 #1 in tv I can hear that this is the fav season of the show for many people, and in my opinion it was perfect and probably the most well written and the one which has been the most successful in the characters exploration. Every characters were still isolated and the dynamics were not yet been set in motion, the island events weren’t breathtaking yet, which left time to be interested in the characters. SEASON 2 9/10 #3 in tv (The Walking Dead, Vinland Saga) At first, i haven’t even realise the quality drop between the two seasons because it wasn’t noticeable, and the craziest thing about this show is that you can rank the seasons in every order it will never be a bad ranking, every season is particular in his own way and almost perfect imo. Contrariwise the events on the island were better, we first met the “others”, this was more interesting than the s1 but i wasn’t this involved in this one maybe it’s just personal. I felt like the plot wasn’t really moving forward. SEASON 3 10/10 #1-4 in tv (Attack On titans, Avatar, Mr Robot) This is definitely the favorite season of the fanbase and i can’t deny it, it was peak from start to finish and got probably the best stretch of the show (3x19-3x23) The last episodes were the first perfect ones and i think it’s because of these things that this is considered like the best of the show but in my opinion it wasn’t the most consistent. Charlie conclusion was one of the best i’ve seen too, thanks to the buildup brought by desmond. SEASON 4 10/10 #2 in tv (Mr Robot) My personal favorite season, it was the shortest but the greatest at the same time, in my opinion it was the most consitent one with no bad eps. Over that, it was crowned with the #2 best ep of the show “The Constant” (4x5) which was such a masterpiece and took desmond to my favorites characters ever. The entire arc of rescue was crazy and in my opinion a little group leaving the island was necessary to keep the serie fresh. “Oceanic Six” as a name was tuff btw 😭 I will always remember the sawyer sacrifice, jumping from the helicopter; idk why but this moment really impacted me in my view of sawyer character, which is now in the highest category of my list. The flashforwards are really importants elements for the season, which are overall among the best parts of the show. SEASON 5 10/10 #2-3 in tv (BrBa > Lost = Bcs ) This is one of the most overhated season of tv along with mr robot s2, it was a great season with a really interesting concept. The time travels might have been the most interesting innovative part of the show, and really caught me from the last ep of s4 Nothing else to declare SEASON 6 9.5/10 #3 in tv I didn’t liked it as much as i wanted to, however there’s some peak eps, like 6x9,6x11, 6x14 (probably the second saddest ep of the show) and of course the end. There’s nothing much to say about this season, kinda average, could be better but The end carried everything in it. CONCLUSION ♾️/10 Best in cinematic history imo Nothing will ever top these immaculate and beautiful last 10 minutes. I understand that people may not like it, because it’s confusing and if you don’t have special attachments to the characters you can’t fully get touched by it, but that’s why this show is this long, the build-up to this final scene is the most well done in fiction. Every characters and their respective best dynamics settles up perfectly in this ep. The Church scene is beyond perfection but we have to talk about jacks conclusion in the island too, the parallels to the pilot are the greatest ever made. His last look to his friends finally leaving the island in the plane is brilliant. Above these 10 minutes the overall episode was so emotional, i cried from the first realisation with Sun and Jin, to the last minute of the ep, every realisation brought me more tears (Claire and Charlie, Sawyer and Juliet 😭❤️‍🩹). Personally i don’t think that i will never witness a better conclusion. PLOT / STORY 10/10 Best story i ever witnessed, from first to last ep, there wasn’t boring arcs, the mystery about the island, the “others”, the darma initiative, the charles widmore expedition, the time-travel stuff, oceanic six, and the final arc… The tense and mystery developed every episode to satisfying conclusion of each arcs and seasons is the strong point of the story. PROTAGONIST 10/10 #9 in tv At first, Jack didn’t seems to be the protagonist, other characters in the show were more interesting and they were are equal in the importance for the show but we can fully understand his role in the last season, easily his best. Before s6 it was my #4 or #5 fav character but it moved on so much after that, it impacted me a lot and especially in the finale, became my #2 without any doubt, so well written character, not in the goats debate but in the Walter White debate case imo. DEUTERAGONIST 10/10 #3 in tv (Sasuke >>> Zuko >= John Locke) At first i didn’t understand the hype about this character and i still thinking that he is a little bit overrated by the fandom but of course he still a perfect character with one of the saddest story of all time 💔 I think that i didn’t understood fully the character because i didn’t followed his decisions in the island, jack and sawyer were more logical and less weird in their choices. Last minute of 1x19 may be my favorite moment of the character TRITAGONIST 10/10 #1 in tv I dont see any tritagonist ever top him, at first i was thinking that he was the deuteragonist but john locke played a more important role in the island (Still thinking that character wise he destroys john). There’s many things to say about this character but he got me by his attempt of redemption but self-destructing himself. After his first backstory i felt very sorry for him, his one of the characters that only have peak backstories btw. Otherwise he’s a brave character that can die for his friend (he could die for kate like 836x in the show 😭) with values, it’s hard to decide what is my fav moment of him, but his sacrifice, jumping from the helicopter when he finally could go back home, impacted me way more than others i think. Will forever be my fav ❤️‍🩹 SIDE CHARACTERS - OVERALL DYNAMICS ♾️/10 Best ever The fact that i can quote like more than 10 characters that are perfectly executed in this show and 5 beyond perfection is crazy, the side cast is the greatest ever made and the idea of focusing each episode on a specific character helps a lot. The characters exploration is brilliant, even the distant side cast got their own episode i liked this part of the show. The dynamics are imo the central point of the show, everything goes around it, you can understand it in the church scene at the end. Perfect strangers, that become this related to eachother, it’s the most beautiful thing that the show relay. “The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people, That’s why all of you were here, Nobody does it alone jack, You needed all of them, and they needed you” (one of my fav quote ever) FEMALE CAST 10/10 #1 in tv Nothing much to say but every female character got their packs of emotional moments, and in my opinion kate is wayyy above everyone else, she’s the real deuteragonist of the last episode and maybe from the beginning of the show. ANTAGONIST 10/10 #2 in tv, i’m not sure yet (Aizen > Ben ) From a power hungry, manipulative leader to a man seeking redemption and a sense of purpose. Ben sacrificing his promotion in the alternate timeline for Alex shows he has the ability to be selfless. This symbolises his change on the island, he ultimately is a changed man that is trying to atone for his past, reinforced when he rejects the Man in Black's offer. Well, i didn’t liked him at first but this is one of the greatest character development of the show, and his dynamic with John Locke is eqsily the best of the show. His relationship with his daughter was really interesting and heartbreaking. Will stay in my earth ❤️‍🩹 DEPTH / COMPLEXITY 10/10 The interesting concept of focusing each episode on a different character one ep to the next made this show special and enforces his depth wise (Each backstory is very sad and coherent). Each backstory shows a specific theme, which is the point of the episode, that makes a complex analysis to make in each episode, to find out the relationship between the actual events and the backstory, well most of the time it’s explicit. OVERALL PLOT TWISTS 10/10 #1 in tv The way that this show has to do cliffhanger and turnaround every 10 seconds is crazy, there’s no episodes without at least one plot twist and that’s why the show is this interesting and the viewers can be this involved.
