This was my late grandfathers favorite show so I decided to give this a try. And wow, I am blown away by the powerful messaging and realism of this show just in the pilot. Rescue Me’s pilot shows some truly amazing scenes with strong messaging behind it. The realistic depiction of firefighters coping with the events of 9/11 was just so real and emotional. Throughout the pilot our main character Tommy has these dream sequences where he sees the dead, and this is how he copes by having conversations with them. In particular the last scene with Tommy on the beach as he’s leaving you could see all the people that are dead that he copes with on a daily basis following him off the beach was just such an incredible and amazing scene. Truly shows that the dead will always follow Tommy and he can’t cope with it. Also Tommy’s monologue with the shrink towards the end of the episode was so raw and emotional. Honestly such an incredible pilot, I could already tell Tommy is gonna be a TV goat by this pilot alone. One of the best pilots oat. Really enjoyed this one.
