After taking a bit of a break for my vacation, it's time to get back into the swing of things! Oh look, it's Fennec Shand! And she knocks out Carter in this episode... origin story perhaps? I appreciate that Mark and also Morgenstern are trying to help Susan be more assertive in herself, but man, it comes off as a bit like mansplaining at times. This is the episode where I fear Susan is entering a midlife crisis. Or a mental breakdown. Or both. She deserves way fucking better. I love that bit with the sociologist giving Carol those 2 extremely personal questions for his studies, and then her pouring so much alcohol on him. Karma's a bitch. It's hilarious. We finally get to see Benton's mother after all of this time, and she apparently doesn’t want to go to a nursing home. Explains why he doesn't want to put her in there despite his brother in law telling him repeatedly to do it. Doug has never seen his son at all. My question is, who's the mother? That guy who really loves colors is kinda autistic coded, at least it feels like it to me, speaking as a person on the spectrum. I love that final scene where everyone (except Susan) hangs out at the diner. Ever since the opening act of the blizzard episode happened, I am a sucker for those kinds of scenes.
