So, in my review of the previous episode I said that at least this show isn't homophobic so far. And plot twist, it's transphobic, ugh!
Rant incoming!
So, no, Taylor Sheridan, you can't "disagree" about trans people or any other marginalized group just existing. Your "opinions" stop where the rights of certain people start. You can't argue about whether someone deserves to exist or not, like, please stfu. Homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, racism etc have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with an opinion or whatever you call it. Hate, even if it's expressed in a non-agressive way is just hate, nothing more.
And having Neal to spout that crap, of all characters, felt so off. Taylor Sheridan feels like that annoying centrist who doesn't vote, but is definitely leaning more towards the right, if you know what I mean. Imagine having at least two queer characters in your show (even if it's mostly a US military propaganda show) and then writing that whole scene. You can't make this shit up, I swear. This feels like that "I oNlY sUpPoRt tHe LGB BuT nOt ThE T" crap. That's not how any of this works. It's like saying "I don't mind any foreigners, HOWEVER..."
End of rant, this episode sucked and not only because of that one scene. It just felt slow, meaningless and uninteresting. Kinda like filler, but not even the fun kind. Do better y'all!
