The fourth season brought a different flavor altogether, and a bigger budget curtesy of the Amazon acquisition. Gone are the episodes set on cramped spaces and corridors, we’re now getting expansive vistas as the Roci crew lands on New Terra, one of the many new worlds that are now within reach. The season did a great job with this storyline and brought some freshness in the mix. I loved the scene where an impending tidal wave forces Holden to evacuate everyone, and the way it all ties back to the Protomolecule and Miller’s final sacrifice, it all works. However I couldn’t feel the same enthusiasm for all the other side stories. Bobby struggling to make a living back on Mars only to stumble on various conspiracies feels a bit detached to the main plot, Avasarala’s political struggles didn’t really grab me and the threat of Marco Inaros as the ultimate supervillain they’re hyping up felt a bit flat. In fact the final episode feels almost entirely like set up for next season. So a bit of a step down overall, but still promising looking ahead.
