Ugh, I hate the creators of Bojack for creating a show that no other show will ever live up to. And I love them for this beautiful gift. It's hilarious that a show about a Horse is the most human show I've ever seen. Bojack hits hard and it gets so many things right. It paints such a beautiful, painful portrait of the human experience, and deals with so many great themes, and asks great questions (and never gives easy answers, because there aren't any). There's also so many memorable quotes (I literally had a wall of quotes in my college dorm, and by the time I graduated, half of them were Bojack quotes). Among the many things I love about the show, I really admire how all the characters are complex and show growth with each season. Instead of just falling into the same tropes, they evolve and learn from their mistakes. Every season feels fresh and new because of this. And of course, there's the humor. This show has it's dark moments, but it's hilarious too! The writing team does a phenomenal job of balancing comedy with tragedy. The jokes are extremely clever too! I really appreciate that they almost never rely on race, gender, or anything offensive to hit their mark. Thanks for not being cheap, Bojack, and setting a standard for what humor should be like. There's so much more I have to say about this show. There's so much detail, the cast is amazing, the song choices are great -- I could go on forever. Here's my only gripe with this season: it felt rushed in the second half. It seems like Netflix was the one that ended the show, not the writers, and it shows. Because of this rushing, I feel like some of the conclusions aren't well-earned. But honestly, the writers still did a fabulous job wrapping things up with what time they had. The View From Halfway Down is one of the best episodes of all time, and the last episode made me tear up. I had to sit on that for a few days before accepting that Bojack is over, and everything is worse now. PS. Mr Blue was a great song choice for the ending.
