An insultingly awful ending aside (Which I’ll get to), this was actually the most enjoyable episode of the season since “Scar Tissue”, not that that’s really saying much. This is actually the first episode of the entire season to achieve ANY feeling of finality. Given that this is the second to last episode of the entire show, that’s really not a good thing. It’s physically impossible to get even remotely invested in Dexter leaving Miami with Hannah because Dexter even thinking of doing this is a complete and utter character assassination seeing as there’s the pathetically easy alternative of removing the only evidence requiring Hannah to flee. But that aside, let’s talk about the finale. You seriously want me to believe that now, at the most impromptu time, Dexter decides now to abandon his urge to kill?! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because this is the same Dexter who decided to let Zach breathe even after knowing Zach had slaughtered two innocent women and had full intention to kill another. Also just love how Dexter leaves Saxon completely unsecured. A multiple murderer who threatened Dexter’s ENTIRE FAMILY and Dexter just leaves him completely unguarded. Brilliant. THIS is how Deb gets shot. This is S6 all over again. I can tell I’m gonna enjoy the finale, but that’s almost exclusively born out of relief that this garbage season is finally gonna be over.
