My Brilliant Friend brings another incredible season of television with ‘Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay’. Although the ratings may suggest this is a marginal step down compared to season one and two, I actually think it may be better than season one. This season feels a lot more professional than the first two imo, like the behind the scenes workers use to their experience to their advantage and are a lot more confident. This season sees alot less Lila than the first two seasons of MBF, and instead focuses more on Elena. I have to give props to Margherita Mazzucco, she steps it up big time in this season. Her acting is noticeably better, and she even carries the show at points. Gaia Grace is of course excellent, but unfortunately we don’t see a lot of her in her last season 😔 Seeing Elena progress from newlywed to mother of two was amazing. Watching her care for Lila in the first two episodes, and navigate her rocky marriage in the last few kept me captivated the whole time. Also seeing her struggle with writers block, as she fails to write anything meaningful again until the end of the season. The season unfortunately ends with Nino and Elena together, however I’m so worried to see how this next episode/season goes. Has Elena truly left her children behind? Will she break free from Nino? In Lila’s case, I wonder what her look towards Michele Solara meant at the end of the season, and where her characters gonna go from here. Exceptional season again, can’t wait for more!
