I can already tell, thank Christ, that even if the ending is as contrived and anticlimactic as I remembered it, I’m still gonna enjoy it based on my general feelings toward the rest of the season thus far. Seeing Dexter wrestle with the reality of what really happened with Harry was incredible. Something I love so goddamn much about the first 4 seasons of this show, seeing Dexter wrestle with Harry’s vision of his life vs his vision of himself. I will honestly admit that Dexter’s moral dilemma here should’ve been saved for the final season, but tbf (And I’ll cover this more in my season review), there are ways this show could’ve effectively brought that plot line back later on in the show (Which it kinda sorta did, but not very well, and…oh trust me, I’ll get to that soon enough). Even if I do feel that way, what we do get here about Dexter wrestling with that choice is super compelling to say the least even knowing how it ends up. Speaking of his general conflict, his interactions with Doakes were all the more enjoyable with this added conflict in Dexter’s character and that’s just putting it lightly. Super excited for the season finale.
