fun little first season. i’ve heard that the two leads won’t be returning for the now confirmed season 2, so that’s a little strange, but i was also kind of sick of them by the end. an anthology approach similar to white lotus might actually be good for this show, keep it fresh with new people. i think this couple’s romance was rushed into way too quickly (they were saying i love you by like episode 3? or 4? almost immediately after getting together it felt like) and while that would be fine, we could suspend our disbelief and assume that a lot of time has passed off screen between each episode, it made the final few episodes of them fighting feel much more drawn out. like, i was way more convinced by this couple’s arguing than their romance. it felt like they fucking hated each other lol. it made them both annoying and the spy stuff (to me the more interesting part) took a backseat to their stupid ass petty arguments. still, this was fun for a first time watch. some really exciting guest stars with michaela coel (who i’d love to see return in subsequent seasons!!) and ron perlman. i think if this show continues with a new story each season it has real potential to be fantastic. i would love if they kept the organisation as mysterious as possible for as long as possible too, or it runs the risk of going the prison break route of bizarre and complex conspiracy lore, but little hints here and there would be cool. definitely give this a watch if spy shit is your kinda thing. check doesthedogdie first though if you think you might need to (the finale made me sad lol).
