Man, what a show.
Sure, it wasn’t the pinnacle of early 2000s TV, but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. Some episodes were better than others, but it kept me entertained for most of the ride in one way or another.
I think the biggest issue was that it peaked too early. Honestly, I’d argue that one of the best episodes is the pilot itself. It sets up a tone and energy that the rest of the season struggles to maintain. That can leave viewers with false expectations, and the show doesn’t consistently deliver on that initial promise. In short, it’s not a series you should binge-watch in one go.
That said, you can’t go wrong with some of the lighthearted adventures it offers, just don’t expect the same tone as The X-Files. Overall, despite its flaws, I liked it. Where else can you find a group of geeky conspiracy theorists who aren’t aggressively racist or transphobic in today’s media?
