I love Lucy and I’m glad Jean Smart played an alt-Lucy named “Edna”. So fun. Overall, Jean Smart was an extremely strong host. Super funny. Super on-point.
Colin Jost hasn’t gotten this drenched since Cecily Strong left the show.
Both Jelly Roll songs were good. I really liked the sobriety-themed one. I have been alcohol-free for 6 years, so it hit hard!!
Vegan alert:
-Reference to the “dogs and the cats” Trump is claiming immigrants eat
-Weekend Update: Michael Che jokes that a cat was chased by Haitian immigrants and people throwing shellfish at Moo Deng (Bowen Yang)
Full disclosure: I attended the dress rehearsal and came home and watched this SNL episode on Peacock. Hannah Einbinder did not co-announce Jelly Roll with Jean Smart at dress, but she did so for the live show.
I was so excited to see Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff, Bowen Yang as JD Vance, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz, and Dana Carvey as Joe Biden that it was hard for me not to post it all over social media the second I got home. Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris continues to slay. The word "Vageorgia" has officially become my new favorite word.
I was very surprised to see the Menendez Brothers joke on Weekend Update make it to the live show (was in poor taste).
It's way too soon to evaluate the new cast members, but they seem fun and it's be good to get to know them.
