As long as it maintains this base level of decency and I keep using it to lull my brain to sleep with some easy entertainment while lying in bed, I'll keep rating it positively enough.

I just don't know who this show thinks it's for. Nothing is entrusted to the audience's intellect, hence having to literally call Teen a "mystery" in case we somehow hadn't picked up on that, so they've gotta think children are gonna be watching this, right? And that's why the "horror" elements are all really rote and derivative so far? But then why is Aubrey Plaza licking blood off of the main character's hand, and why is said character walking around barebottomed in the premiere? Give the adults in the room something to actually chew on besides just a basic plot, please. Theorizing is way more fun and productive when you hint instead of explaining everything first. Imagine if the Jen/Teen convo had been cut, and instead we'd only gotten Agatha's hallucination? Now we'd be certain there was a child in Agatha's life, but we wouldn't know if he'd been *traded* for the Darkhold, or if there was some kind of metaphysical tie between the son and the book, or if the Darkhold was her way back to him like it was for Wanda and her sons...there'd be so many guesses, and only some would be right, but 1) we wouldn't already KNOW like we do right now, and 2) we'd have actually PARTICIPATED in the show.

Yeah, it's a completely passive experience. But it's got funny jokes sometimes, and every minute of Kathryn Hahn screentime is welcome. As long as I'm not spending daylight watching it, it's enough. I just hope one of the trials is necromancy because Sharon better not stay dead. Congratulations writers, you did surprise me there.
