Monsters (2024)
as someone who has supported and defended the Menendez Brothers since early 2021 i am in shock and completely disgusted at how this series has portrayed both Erik and Lyle but specifically Lyle. Not only that but the majority of what is said in each episode are lies or if something is right its in the wrong way. Over the past almost 4 years of watching and rewatching over and over hours and hours of footage of both Erik and Lyle’s trials and their cross examinations and direct examinations and the final arguments and interviews and documentaries and so on never have i ever been given any reason not to believe them and everything they were saying, if I was someone who didnt know a thing about the Menendez brothers and watched this i would have thought they were lying and it was within the first episode of this series that it portraits them as liars. Its disgusting to me how Ryan Murphy can make a show based on something so disturbing and sensitive and true and make it so disrespectful. He is truly disgusting. On the other hand i do have to say that i could tell that Cooper Koch studied Erik and got him down to a T he is incredible in this role, he got it all right from the mannerisms to the voice and the way Erik really spoke he really did amaze me, i hope he gets some notice at the Emmys next year as i do believe he deserves it. Also Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who id seen a lot of rave reviews about his acting before hand, was undeniably amazing as Lyle even though the portrayal was wrong Nicholas still gave such a great performance and again i wouldnt be mad seeing him with some notice at the Emmys too. I think both Cooper and Nicholas were incredible picks for these roles and i am really excited to see them go far. I really wished this would have been a series that would have brought awareness to the Menendez brothers case instead of leading people to believe they were villans, theres enough evidence to go online and on youtube to see it all for yourselves so please do if you get the chance. It will always be free the Menendez brothers, i hope one day to see them finally get that freedom they have always deserved.
