"Meesa the Phantom Menace"
Pretty fun! Surely the best Lego x Star Wars crossover to come out of the Disney era (not that the bar was high). It's certainly more well done as a what if? than the marvel's ones, but still has no complexity and all these twists serve a story and characters who are new.
I wish they went further with some ideas, Darth Jar Jar and Jedi Vader seemed heavily prompted, but played such a little part in the plot. But I guess they will make for some amazing irl minifigures.
The plot is nice, very simple but has its fun moments. The final revelation was actually surprising, and kinda dark for a Lego story? I don't know if I want to see more of this, they teased a continuation with the Landolorian thing (I don't wanna hear shit about the Mandalorian after its third season) but I think the novelty of good guys bad and bad guys good would wear off with another installment.
The humor was very very ok, you have the "it's a trap" shit that you would obviously expect and stuff like that, but there are still some jokes that land. They cleverly used memes like Jedi Bob and Darth Jar Jar which was quite awesome, and kinda unbelievable.
I really like how much further they went with the Lego theming in this one, plus building being a force technique makes this feel like "the lego star wars movie". And yes, I'm saying movie because I thought that's what it would have been, but for some reason they made it a series? I wonder if they decided to split it thinking kids couldn't handle an 80 minutes movie? Probably they can't to be fair. Still very weird.
One last thing. The protagonist really must have been lame as shit to find enjoyment in telling about the Book of Boba
