this show is truly an amazing experience, as I watched it I felt like not much was happening but by the time I reached the ending episode I really took notice of how much Connell and Marianne’s relationship grew over the years. this show does focus on the miscommunication between the two but it’s more than that, it discusses class, finding yourself, depression, abuse and sex. this is definitely one of those shows that you begin to resonate with the more you experience life and grow up. there were scenes that left me wondering why they were crying over what seems to be such small things or why they’re so afraid of being honest with each other during certain times but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. it was always hard for them to communicate because Marianne grew up richer than Connell, she got a scholarship she didn’t really need and was able to fit in with all the other rich kids in university. Connell on the other hand, excelled in high school, with his friends who bullied Marianne for being a spoiled rich girl. he was too embarrassed to tell Marianne about his money problems because she’d never understand it, she probably would’ve offered him money but he would’ve never been able to accept it. if I was in any of their positions I’d act the same way due to the fear of being judged, even though Connell and Marianne are so close to one another and can understand what the other is feeling most of the time, they lead different lives. there still manages to be miscommunication due to or fear of judgement or feeling ashamed of something. i genuinely believe that Paul mescal and Daisy edgar jones have the most chemistry out of any other tv/movie couple out there, everything felt almost too realistic. the only reason im not rating this show 5 stars is because it didn’t really break me emotionally or make me cry, its one of those shows that left me thinking instead. top 3 episodes: 1. episode 10 2. episode 12 3. episode 8 not ranking characters bc i can’t pick between Connell and Marianne!!!
