I was surprised to found out this was made by the same mangaka of Soul Eater and it really impressed me as I got deeper into the story. Soul Eater was his subversion of the Shounen genre while Fire Force is a tribute to it. Years after the mangaka was finished with Soul Eater, he wanted to create one honoring the formula with his own twists and a passion project following the classic Shounen tropes. When the series first came out I judged it because there were so many better anime options at the time, luckily, I’m at a point where I was dying for a classic action Shounen to watch and Fire Force was there when I needed it the most. Also, I would’ve watched the series way sooner if I had known there’s a theological storyline all throughout it (it’s my favorite theme in media).
